That other video you linked on the previous page was nothing short of brilliant. Perfect start to the day. That dog/vietnam bit almost had me on the floor. The video was almost as good as the time Karl Pilkington thought the earth was going to collapse because we have too many buildings but then realised it should be OK because we don't have dinosaurs anymore and they were really heavy.

Funny how some people can spend like a year building spudgun (like myself but i have just waited the parts from the machine shop)

But when you just find old lighter, some self fusing tape, old radio antenna and a chapstick tube, you cna create something really fun. I just took one element from the antenna, taped the end, then slided it to the chapstick tube (perfect fit btw!) poked a hole for the piezo and wired the other contact to the barrel, took like 5mins to make and i have been shooting the whole evening :D

Its epic in a ghetto view

Mmm... he's forgetting that breathing pure oxygen isn't a good plan and especially not without a regulator :D

Hey guys, brief question. My grandfather is possibly going to be put on oxygen for in home use, and there are some concerns about it from the family. He has a gas stove in his house that he uses almost all the time to cook bacon and all sorts of other crap, and one of the families questions is, will he blow himself up using the stove while hooked up to the oxygen? He is also a major smoker, 4-6 packs a day, so would that also cause some sort of ignition? I know oxygen is a non explosive gas, but it does accelerate fire and can cause explosions. JSR, I remember you posting a picture of a (Pneumatic?) that used oxygen and it shredded the front. Would something like that happen? Thanks for input guys, we are talking to the doctor about it as well, just need some more input.

4-6 packs a day
WTF ?? is he trying to euthanize himself ?

that used oxygen and it shredded the front. Would something like that happen?
that was under pressure duh... so there is more oxygen in a given volume

don't worry about oxy... you should worry about him smoking 4-6 packs a day

not to be a dick be he's old... so can't you just give him one pack a day max ?

I have been on oxygen 24/7 for 7 years and can give some insight on this.
If use two different types of oxygen sources. One is a portable liquid type (Helios Plus) that makes use of only supplying oxygen on demand.
The other makes use of oxygen concentrator which supplies a constant oxygen flow. I am on 2LPM on both setups.
During the day I use the portable "on demand" unit which really saves on oxygen usage. At night I use the "constant flow" concentrator.
The problem with constant flow is that a lot of oxygen is being dispensed to the outside the nose area and will be absorbed by clothing and dissipated to the surrounding air. This in my mind is more dangerous than the on demand type. (A fair comparison is a vortex BB launcher compared to a hammer valve.)

You did not state his oxygen usage flow rate or whether it is bottled oxygen or a concentrator.

PM me for more details and recommendations!

We don't know what the flow rate would be, but we do know it would be bottled oxy. At the hospital, they have it set to 2 currently, if that's any help.

Poland, we can't control his cigs... He is the type of person who rages when he isn't in control of anything, and lives by the motto "He who has the gold is in control", so if we go and try and take them away it won't be a pretty sight...

A smoke every 10 minutes is definitely a "chain smoker" during an 18 hour period. (Assuming a 6 hour sleep period.)

Bottle oxygen is absolutely the biggest pain in the arse, that is why I went with a portable "on demand" system for efficient oxygen use.
Definitely have a look at the Helios LOX system if it is available in his area.
http://www.heliosoxygen.com/works.aspx

There are also refillable portable on demand systems without LOX. concentrators.

At 12 breathes per minute that is 12/60 or 1/5 or 20% actual oxygen use.
The other 80% is wasted oxygen and a definite fire hazard near any open flame with a constant 2 LPM flow.
