Nice fine! Not exactly a printer that will be on everyone's desktop by the end of the decade though ;)

@Labtecpower. Very cool, but now every news agency in the world is going to be having fits about "printable metal guns". Great.
@Dart Guy. Unless you are doing low velocity or extremely loose-fitting projectiles, I doubt you'll be able to find any kind of plastic that will do the job. I guess high-speed, tight fitting potatoes would be OK, but anything else will wear down the barrel too fast for serious use. I don't know what that first "3D-printed gun" was made out of, but if you noticed, they had to replace the barrel after EVERY shot. I'd say even a hybrid spud-cannon probably puts a lot of wear on the barrel.

Unlike plastic guns, the cost of the equipment needed to make this would buy you the stock of a small gun store.

Very true. But the media really doesn't care much. If they can blow it into a good story, they will, regardless of the facts.
Look at that first plastic printed gun. The thing was UTTERLY useless; any backyard hobbyist could have built something better in less that an hour. But that didn't stop some enterprising journalist for getting some good publicity for his work.

The guy who was promoting the gun made sure he gave the journalists wanted to hear. I don't think they can get too hysterical about this particular one though. Unless you'rein Manchester  :D

Exactly why we bought one, and it's being put to good use as we speak :)
