Thank for your comments. I'll try to augment the pressure without modify the qev. I'll just change the spray gun and replace it by something smaller (to reduce the pilot volume) and stronger.

The silencer is something I have behind my mind

Why would Americans have a mastery of English, if you observe both English and American, they have only some similes. I learned Latin, and if you know English, Latin is a breeze.

Enough of my pedantics, That is a very nicely carved stock, and your QEV should handle 20 bar with no problems.

A very good first post.

I think he would say some americans don't speak a good english and not English. We have the same problem in france. Some french write on the forum like they write on their cell phone, it's sometimes impossible to understand clearly what they say

Exactly what I mean, you are Exhibit A. You are not even a born english speaker and you still understood what I said hahah nice! :D Back on topic now.

Since we're going on about language, the proper English word is "titbit", but who would have thought it was too vulgar to be pronounced on the other side of the pond

your QEV should handle 20 bar with no problems.

Seconded, if you change your pilot to a proper compressed air blowgun you should be able to ramp it up to at least 30 bar, even more if you go with a ball valve - some people on this forum have taken those QEVs to 40 bar without problems.

If you've only used it at 10 bar so far, you will be impressed by the power difference - and the noise, so a suppressor of sorts is definitely a good idea ;) I would go with a coaxial tube over the entire length of the barrel, giving you a good volume without adding too much overall dimensions. Also it would help with aesthetics, your current barrel looks too skinny and is letting down the overall appearance.

It can be as simple as drilling a couple of ports at the muzzle end of your current barrel and sleeving it with larger diameter tube:

Ha, I love how that website you linked to says:

"Maximum operating pressure 30psi (2bar)"

I imagined to replace my actuel air blowgun by something like this : http://www.diytools.co.uk/diy/Main/sp-1 ... blow%20gun

It's smaller and stronger. It will be easier to integrate it in a new wood handle like the real PSG-1.

I was thinking about make one shot two strike for the barrel. The external diameter of the actuel barrel is 14 mm. I think to add a 20 mm tube to make it bigger like some people advise me to do. But, if I keep 3 mm (20 mm - 14 mm / 2) between the barrel and the new tube, I coud use it like a full silencer barrel, isn't it? If I make 3 o 4 holes to the barrel's extremity, the gaz will expand between the barrel and the tube and reduce the noise. I'm right? I haven't found a diagram for full silencer barrel.

Oh, and for the little story, never say "titbit" to a french person. In french "short dick" is translated by "petite bite". That could be shortened by " 'tite bite", same pronunciation as "titbit" :D

What mean "titbit" in english?

I've used those type of blowguns to about 35 bar without problems, anything more and they tend to leak

If you want the suppressor to be really effective, it should be much greater - say 40-50mm tubing. Here's an idea for a more complex design that would be even more effective with multiple chambers:

"Tit" being slang for breast ;)

My sincerest apologies for the comment on the possible length of your pride!!!

As a side note on interesting/funny language translations...
Clairol, a popular womans makeup/hair accessory brand, made a hair straightener which was marketed around the world as the "Mist stick". It sold well on all corners of the globe EXCEPT in Germany... where MIST translates to crap... apparently Germans dont like crap in their hair... who knew.

BACK ON TOPIC!!

I like the idea of raising the Bar on your launcher, but I personally would recommend against the type of blowgun like this one...

http://www.harborfreight.com/rubber-tip ... rce=become

I recommend against it due to the fact that EVERY company uses a different valve design even tho they all look the same. A LOT OF THEM ARE crap and either leak air or stick in the open position. I plan on using a Slide valve with my higher Bar project... like this one.

http://www.fastenal.com/web/products/de ... 034&ucst=t

(I know people have had success using these blowguns, but I literally went thru 3 until I found one that didn't have a slow leak @>100psi)

EDIT- oh wow... totally didn't know that this site had a word filter... thats not how I typed it durrnit!! lol

Same reason the Toyota MR2 didn't sell well in France, and why in Spain the Mitsubish 4x4 is called "Montero", not "Pajero" :D

I can vouch for the blowgun at the top of the page, they hold out to 40 bar without leaking. And very good flow.

Pajero would have to be one of my favourites, though for those who know some of a dead language, the film Finding Nemo is very amusing.

Or very well thought out.

Very nice gun you got there! :D I'm making a shell very similar to that one and i'm wondering how you cut the channels or canals in the wood for the pneumatics to go in :?:

Definately one of the very best looking launchers on the site.

Great job and keep it up.

Thanks :)

For the canal, I have used a "milling" (google translation). Something like that : http://omat.aeromodelisme.free.fr/fraiseuse2.jpg . A friend lent me this tool in his garage. Without it, I think I'm still digging with handtool

I'm working on my spudgun to optimize his look. The barrel is now bigger, 20 mm external diameter. The rifle scope is bigger too, it's this one : http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... K:MEWAX:IT

I have removed the blowgun and replace it by a sort of hammer valve homemade. But I don't have room to put a spring in the handle to trigger the HV. So I incline the screw with my finger, it's easy. All I did was fire to empty at the moment, but it looks better than the blowgun.

Look the system.

Image

With this system, I'll can do a new handle looking like the real PSG-1 :D I'll work on it this week.

Could you give us some details on the homemade valve ?

Maybe a cutaway view drawing ?

I kind of have a picture of the internals, in my imagination. But it would be nice to see the parts and a drawing.

Thank you.

Can't imagine it being more complex than this:

Jack's right, either that or he used some washers and nuts to seat an o-ring. Is this the same guy that made the trigger pull QDV in a tee? If it is then he probably used the method I described.
