Works if you want it as a pilot valve for a QEV. If you need all thee ports threaded it's not suitable.

It's best to use components at their rated pressure. There's always a safety factor built in, for example a QEV rated for 150 psi won't explode at 151 psi, but high pressures need to be treated with respect.

A "standard" metal body QEV can be taken to 300 psi with little worry, the main point which can fail is the piston/diaphragm but this is easily replaced.

What pressures were you planning on operating with?

The slide valve I linked to is good for 4500 psi, but if you're using it as a pilot it might be a good idea to bore out its exhaust ports as they are usually quite tiny on these.

i have found a qev that is rated at 6000psi  but do you know where i could get a high pressure 3 way valve, because im not sure how i would make a trigger system for it and pressure from a soda stream bottle so 800psi

but i will probably regulate it down to 300psi because i will be firing 8mm steel bbs that are 2 grams each, this is my first time getting into pneumatic guns, i have built a ball valve rifle which runs at 160psi

and its pvc and i want to move up with air rifles so i have researched some possible ideas and i like design of wyzs newset rifle it seems easy to make and just need high pressure rated three way valve
:o

all you need to do is attach a trigger or rod to a trigger to the slidy part of the slide valve.

For example: http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/semi-au ... 22363.html

A slide valve is a much better idea, because it eliminates the need for the ball valve (the one with the red handle in the pic you linked to) and lets you fire as fast as you can pull the trigger assuming you have a semi auto loading system, instead of having to refill the firing chamber every time.

A slide valve IS a three way valve.

From another post:

Basically something like this:

Image

When the valve is in the forward position, it allows air to flow from the main supply to the QEV and fill the pilot and firing chamber.

When the valve is in the rear position, two things happen:

- main supply is cut off

- QEV pilot chamber is open to the atmosphere, emptying it and firing the launcher

The valve goes back to the forward position (you need to add a spring or do it manually) and the cycle can be repeated.

Here's a nice 3/4" slide valve: http://cgi.ebay.com/Deltrol-SL35-3-4-Sl ... 2eb4b3739c

You could also get a cheaper 1/8" one and use an adapter: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Paintball-Gun-S ... 2c5cefe367

This is the concept:

Image

The slide valve is basically a three way valve.

A three way valve has three ports, which we will call A, B and C

There are two possible paths, AB (with C blocked off) and AC (with B blocked off)

A is connected to the pilot area of the piston

B is connected to your 100 litre tank

C is simply left open to the atmosphere.

At rest, the three way is in position AB. This means your reservoir is filling the launcher chamber.

When the trigger is pulled, the valve switches to position AC. This means the reservoir is blocked off, and is no longer filling the pilot and chamber, while the pilot is exhausted to the atmosphere, which fires the launcher.

Once the trigger is released, the valve goes back to AB, refilles the pilot and chamber and the cycle can be repeated.
