My first build - Styer Inspired

Unread postAuthor: aussieben » Tue Sep 03, 2013 9:12 am

Hey guys,

So here is my first pneumatic rifle. I did quite a lot of reading on here and decided to do a decent job first time round.

Basically I initially wanted something very simple but decided to add the mag for ease of use. Its taken a while to complete but its finally done (almost... just waiting for a proper foregrip + bipod combo to arrive)!

It fires 6mm steel ball bearings at around 120psi from a standard compressor.

Cheers everyone!

Great job!
maybe you should try ramping up the pressure to 300 psi, your parts look like they are able to take it.. Don't know how fragile the guts of your trigger valve are..

Looks way better than my first build :D

Thanks fellas!

Hawktalk: it was a roller ball 3way valve off eBay. I took off the roller and made a flat pad out of sheet steel and screwed it onto the arm of the 3way. The extra length gives more leverage to give an easier trigger pull.

Labtecpower: I might up the pressure but at the moment I don't have the equipment to and I'm also only shooting in my backyard so the power at the moment is quite ample haha.

I appreciate that dartguy :)

Wow, very nice job on the cast block and bolt design for single pellet loading. Very well done.

Thanks Gun freak! Its orange just incase it comes into the eyes of the police (I've got some narky neighbours). That way it doesn't look like a replica, more like a training aid. Probably unnecassary but I dont really mind. I can always turn it into tiger stripe!

The resin block took some tweaking! The dust from drilling the resin was pretty hard to flush out completely which led to the bb's jamming in the mag tube; preventing them from feeding down to the bolt. The bolt itself is actually a lollipop stick because it was the only non-magnetic material i could use and it happened to fit perfectly! It currently feeds almost perfectly. Although I milled the mag tube on a slight angle, I still have to lean the gun back to get it to roll down. Not a huge issue though!

It has a 3 way valve and push to connect fittings - so I approve of it as well :D
It fires 6mm steel ball bearings at around 120psi from a standard compressor.
Get a fridge compressor and up the pressure a little bit

Cheers guys! Yeah more pressure could be on the cards, but I'm saving for an overseas trip at the end of the year. I'll have to see how the money plays out before anything else haha.
