burst disk cartridge idea

Post questions and info about pneumatic (compressed gas) powered cannons here. This includes discussion about valves, pipe types, compressors, alternate gas setups, and anything else relevant.

90% sure you are wrong there. There are a few paintball guns that specifically use liquid CO2 as opposed to gaseous, but for the most part, everything just vaporizes the liquid in the reservoir, to fill the chamber. (or when it shoots, the gas in the reservoir is released, but most of the liquid slowly boils off over time.

Except for those few paintball guns, liquid CO2 never enters the barrel, only gas.

As for putting 3000psi through a system rated for 1000, you would probably end up shooting your self in the foot, quite literally, as well as in the stomach, eyes, cranium, spleen, and just about every other part of your body when the entire thing explodes on you.

Do not look back, and grieve over the past, for it is gone;
Do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come;
Live life in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering.

I was refering to when the hammer valve opens and some liquid CO2 inevitably enters the barrel (with the gas co2), then expands inside the barrel. AFAIK it's a FACT. So there's not much to disagree with.

Awesome!, because I've already had surgery on my foot, my stomach, had stiches in my head variuos times, and had an eye problem...
SO for me, testing is in order!!! :D
Besides just today I was wondering about using a Regulator that could work in the 1000-2 or 3000 range and just step it up to find the limit for a particular co2 gun.
Course you'd probably need atleast two models to determine the breaking point! :lol:

One thing liquid storage made me realize safety-wise is that, I was looking at a pipe larger than the 12 gram cartridge thinking, it's larger so it would probably have about 600psi...So I could use a brass ball- valve... Then I realized (LUckily) that since the co2 is liquid in the cart., I would've probably had 800-850 psi (NOT SAFE)....I got one min. left on-line now)...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiBMltWg2RQCOOL song about pressure!!!

EDIT:That's the coolest song in the world with bag pipes (and maybe the only rock song with them!) I managed to get more time (but now I got to take a leak) Public computers suck :evil: :(
Yeah,ALSO none of the health ailments I mentioned were results of spudding accidents but other drastic things BTW. 8)

IIRC, one reason pistol co2 guns have lower velocity because the liquid co2 needs barrel length to vaporize (expanding), and the liquid has less volume. So sometimes adding only one inch to co2 pistol barrel length will yield a 100fps or so increase (?) IIRC from reading somewhere..

Problem is, that as liquid vaporises to gas, thermal energy is taken away.
And not just a bit. A LOT.
Freezing temperatures will not only bother your gun, but it will also drop the effective pressure. Less temperature = less pressure.
If you would let the liquid vaporize in the chamber before firing, then the chamber walls can transfer the thermal energy in, heating the gas up back to ambient temperature.

I was replying to your new post and figured this fit better here:
Now, lately, I plan to use my tire filler for a 5/8" inch brass double barrel pistol burst disc design.
5/8"x 12" hobby shop brass tube fits inside 1/2" brass x6" pipe.
And a red "Buchanan" brand wire-nut fits perfectly into the 5/8"...
For the burst-disc IDK, sheet metal(?)

Also, I have some round brass ash trays, and handle shaped brass candle sticks...Hmmm.. an all brass 6" or 12"(coupling) barreled all brass pepperbox design is on my mind!!

BTW, a co2 cart modded to Burst-disc cart fits into the 1/2" brass coupling if the threads are removed slightly,and the 5/8" tubing fits OK in the cartridge, so I'm thinking maybe mag. fed design also... 8)
