A little update, I added a threaded adapter to allow it to be hooked up to my compressor, and a length of aluminium to hallow the breech to be hooked up to an electric drill for testing. I'll give it until tomorrow to cure then you can expect some results :)

Hi-Jack,

Sorry, I can´t resist: Put a cam on the rotating pipe and make that push open the air valve. Once working, arrange 8 of the guns in 2 rows, have 2 cams control everything, and there you have the world´s first V8 DOHC BB gun.

Regards

I promised you results, and the results are most disappointing. So much for tight tolerances, it leaks air like crazy, a complete waste of time. Ah well, at least I answered the nagging question in my head of whether it would work or not.

Now, the ball valve idea, hmmm...

I actually have a couple of cam powered designs :)

Hi,

Haha, I hadn´t expected that you already had camshafts in gun designs...

It seems to be the conclusion that with our kitchen-table construction techniques, one can only make good valves iff the moving part of the valve moves perpendicular to the sealing plane...

Jack, you should try and build one of your prototypes like this into a rifle-ishy kinda thing. It would look really good. Depending on how much damage you get from this.

The thing is I *really* would like to keep it air-only, without the need for an external motor to power it, which Is why I was focusing on the blow back/forward ideas.

A few posts up he said it was a complete waste of time because of air leaks and weak performance. I'm guessing he abandoned it.

wait so you still really want an air only system well your looking for an air motor, if you don't feel like buying one you may be able to extract one from a self propelled vacuum cleaner many Hoover models experiment with air motors at least my dad says so
