First Piston......please comment

I see what you mean, you could always wrap the space between the disks with duct tape or masking tape until you build up the required diameter ;)

Jack could explain or point out the epoxy build up, it would also strenthen the piston. As for the pilot valve, what did you have in mind? and or what are you unsure about?
