Comment about the self extracting files:
It is a bit inconvenient to use a free file host server but I guess, what do you expect for free. At least the files can be up to 300mb.

The only reason I did all the work of creating sketchup downloads is because sketchup is free and most members complain about the cost of something.

I guess for sketchup it is easier to use 3D-Warehouse as the file server.
Although it has limitations of 10mb files.

I had to split that launcher into 3 separate sections to upload.

Apparently there are no requests or interest.
Either that or sketchup is to difficult for some to use.

I thought the self extracting files would only be good for a quick review of the model here on the site, and then if they liked the model or wanted to use it, then they go to the sketchup library to download it and create their design.

Thanks David;

I saw that you used the QEV and trigger!

I have to order a pop off valve from McMaster so I can create a drawing.

Thanks for the compliment!

I have recently started a Sch 80 PVC fittings drawing.

Should be done within a week.

Well I just completed uploading PVC SCH 80 fittings to the library.

The sizes are 1.0, 1.25, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 4.0 inch. All are Spears.

I have noticed that there are all kinds of PVC fittings available in the 3D Warehouse site.

Any way, the library is getting larger. So check it out!

Dewey, Are you machining or otherwise making these items for sale?

No, I am basically creating 3D drawings for spudgun use.

I am a retired Enginneer and enjoy creating 3D models for our hobby.

I use and old version of autcad and then convert to sketchup for those who need a free modeling program.

If you see any 3D models that interest you, just let me know!

Look here for current drawings;

I just jumped onto the sketchup bandwagon. Now, I'll wait for the Sch40 to come about. Until then, nice work.

Dewey, I am over here wondering how to convert back to ACAD. LOL We machine / model in ACAD. Is there a location you can upload your native dwg files? I have a FTP server, actually one of those NAS drives. I dunno how to use it without my IT guy....

Or are you referring to my sch40 models?

If you don't have Sketchup the Sketchup files can now be used in Blender. A tutorial is here. :D

http://www.blendernation.com/2006/05/11/import-sketchup-and-google-earth-files-into-blender/

Blender is open source and free. :D There is no pro version with a limited function free version.
http://www.blender.org/

The free version can only output in one Google format and stated here;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SketchUp

While the free version of Google Sketchup can only export to Google Earth's .kmz 3D file format, the Pro version extends exporting support to include the .3ds, .dae, .dwg, .dxf, .fbx, .obj, .xsi, and .wrl file formats.

Blender has a good internal rendering engine.

Too bad I haven't learned to use it yet. :(

The Blender team has released a couple movies made with open source tools.

The second one is weird but fun.

I can send dwg or sat3 files to you directly via e-mail.

These files will not lose any detail which may occur if double conversion.

I had one of my files take 6 hours to convert to sketchup.

Just pm me and we can discuss.

I have the Blender program as well as PoseRay and POV-Ray.

They can do rendering but you still need the 3D cad to create a launcher from the components available.

When you learn you can help me! :D
