3600 psi rated sodastream bottle semi-automatic

Unread postAuthor: Dave_424 » Sun May 31, 2009 8:58 am

Hey guys, i found a sodastream bottle this morning http://leeds.gumtree.com/posting_images/41/37440741__1239388000__1__1-66e69fc273326f8d0fa0cbfc8f2db1c3.__big__.jpg

it says "TP 3600 psi" which i'm pretty sure is "Test pressure 3600 psi".

Anyway, where the burst disk is on the side, i managed to screw in a male quick connect and made a check valve in it. Tested to 600 psi and holds fine. WHOOO

So i am asking you guys if this is a good idea.

I am going to put a slide check on the end of the bottle and atach it to a 1/4" QEV and add a 30cm 3/4" copper chamber and a bb barrel. I should be able to get quite a few very powerful shots from a 500-600 psi fill. And have the soda stream bottle as the stock

What do you guys think.

I'm hoping for 600-700 fps from 0.20g bb's but then upgrade to steel ball bearings for more damage

Do you have access to a lathe? When I get mine I'm building an upscaled airforce condor. I can put up the diagrams if you wish.

By the way, it will hold 600 easily.

Edit: btw you need a valve that won't release the entire pilot volume.

Urm, i might be able to have access to a lathe. The airforce condor uses 3000psi to get about 30 shots at 50 foot pounds. it is just very hard to get high power with any amount of shots.

I have no doubt that it would easily hold 200BAR. just looking at my aluminium tank that holds 300 BAR it is MUCH weaker than the steel sodastream bottle

oh and on the pilot valve, it is a slide check and in the right orinetation, when triggered to cuts off the flow from the sodastream bottle but vents the pilot and when slid forwards, it supplys the QEV with air

The test pressure is 3600psi, but the rated pressure will only be ~1000-1200 because its designed to hold C02 which i believe won't go much above that at normal temperatures.

yeah i know that you shouldn't go near the test pressure. I would have to keep my pressures to around 500 max becuase I am using a 16BAR slide check and I don't realy want to break it

It might leak like a sieve at anything over 300psi, so that will be the main factor in falling on my chosen pressure
