What should I make the piston out of?

Unread postAuthor: maverik94 » Wed Jun 24, 2009 12:27 pm

What would be the best material to make a piston out of for a spring-piston air rifle? Or can I buy something? Thanks in advance!

I would need a lathe to cut the grooves for the o-rings

Put the stock in the chuck and spin it against a exacto knife...

Made on a drill press

Unread postAuthor: Technician1002 » Wed Jun 24, 2009 2:08 pm

Parts with rings can be made on a drill press.

The two pictures are two different valves. One is a piston for a coaxial called the Mouse Musket and the other is a QDV style for the Marshmallow Cannon.

The rings are floating and do seal well.

The materials are HDPE and UMHWHDPE.
