surprised by a ball valve! Massive kick and thump.

Post questions and info about pneumatic (compressed gas) powered cannons here. This includes discussion about valves, pipe types, compressors, alternate gas setups, and anything else relevant.

Somehow I have my doubts the damage to the car was with a spring opened ball valve. A little more pressure and valve speed would be needed for that.

With say 800 psi on tap and a big enough spring to open a ball valve the same size as the barrel, more than possible.

hmm that's probably because he used and air operated (actuated via an air cylinder) ball valve as the pilot valve

The QDV also has no plumbing for pressure loss between the chamber and valve.

You are correct, sir. The damage was caused by a lowly Piston valve.

jackssmirkingrevenge.... With say 800 psi on tap and a big enough spring to open a ball valve the same size as the barrel, more than possible.

JSR...change the 800psi to 1kpsi and I'll agree with you completely. :!:

Well, have a look at the Buick'o'truth.

Such a massive projectile has more than enough power to punch through, even at modest velocities.
