Mine started to leak at 300 PSI. It was the second type.

You could always use a ball valve as a trigger - good for at least 800 psi, and a perfectly feasible alternative to feed a pop-off valve. Also by limiting its maximum travel you could also regulate rate of fire.

My planned design for this valve used a ball valve:

Approved :) can't see anything that would discourage it from working.

Hmm, the problem is, with a 24" barrel that makes the gun from stock to end about 4' :O

I might be able to shave 1' off by making an adjustment though, what is recomended

Just switch things round a little, look how compact my design above is.

What do you think the shortest, but effective barrel would be?

EDIT:

Oh and one more thing, does anyone have any dimentions for common HPA paintball tanks, such and your Ninja JSR?

Download GGDT and play around with barre lengths and pressures, that should give you a better idea.

Not that easy to model pop-off valve performance.

What do you think the shortest, but effective barrel would be?

you could probably get away with 12-16 inches and still have respectable power (say 4-6 ft/lbs), and upping the pressure can compensate for a shorter barrel though of course you get less shots per fill.

My 13 and 48 cubic inch tanks are approximately 22cm length/5cm diameter and 24cm length/9cm diameter respectively.

Make more sense like that, same features but in a much more compact package :)

What sort of construction are you planning to use?

Yes, will it be the same extensive use of epoxy I tend to go for?
