Vinyl valve hose

Unread postAuthor: Candyman206 » Mon Oct 25, 2010 11:42 pm

I went to Lowes and picked up a couple feet of 1/4" vinyl hose. Will it be okay to use it on a sprinkler valve trigger for 100 psi? Oh yea its yhe clear kind without the white braids

100 PSI is about the max working pressure for vinyl. It usually bursts around 350PSI so you should be fine.

Even if it did burst it is so soft it would hardly pose much threat of physical harm.

It wouldn't be too kind on your ears though ;)

If you can live with the extra pilot volume.

This shouldn't be a problem as long as rule No.2 of gun safety is being observed:

NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY

The more volume you have between the sprinkler valve and the trigger valve, the longer it will take to empty and consequently the slower the valve will open.

The roll of hose should say the rating, if it is not on the hose itself. Check the label. These are things you should consider before hand, not after you buy it.
