fibreglass resin/Solder? mmm

Unread postAuthor: daniel0663 » Tue Apr 26, 2011 9:15 pm

Hi, guys
I have a Q; Fibreglass resin/solder? which should i use?
I'm planning on building Coaxil and a HP pump out of various copper fittings and such and was wondering if Fibreglass resin is suitable
for pressures between 160 - 260 PSIG.
I have fibreglass resin available at no cost.
Has anyone experienced using fibreglass resin for pressure use?
i think i saw a post, JSR using Marine epoxy which is Fibreglass resin? in his mini hybrid?

So i'm assuming that fibreglass resin is suitable?
Tell me what you guys think.
I would use solder but the Solder and flux kit costs 35$NZ  .........

Thanks

Are you talking about joining the fittings together? If so, solder them...

marine epoxy and fibreglass resin are not the same thing. i use marine epoxy in practically all my deisgns, when used well it will hold pretty much anything you subject it to.

One of the problems with using a plastic is the coefficient of expansion is different from the metal. Thermal cycles can stress the bond and cause a failure.
