how do you make a piston valve?

Post questions and info about pneumatic (compressed gas) powered cannons here. This includes discussion about valves, pipe types, compressors, alternate gas setups, and anything else relevant.

it opens because there is air pressure on both sides of the piston, the front of the piston that is against the barrel sealing it, and behind the piston that is not, when you release the pressure behind the piston with a small ball valve, the pressure in front of it forces the piston to go flying back, which unseals the barrel letting all the air escape
