Find a 3/4" to 1/2" Bushing, then put a 1/2" to 1/4" bushing in that.

You can get them in brass or black iron/galvanized at most Home Depot stores. Annoyingly most fittings always seem to require one more reducer than we would like to use. You can sometimes find odd combinations of male/female threads or even reducers that skip a few sizes from one end to the other. Auto parts stores sometimes have these odd combinations.
