It's in my tutorial, look:

4) mix the marine epoxy resin and pour it in place, giving it at least 24 hours to cure completely. Note that epoxy is very heat sensitive, store it at room temperature before mixing - if not, use a baine marie to heat it up before mixing - (some valid pointers on cold temperature bonding).

Does it not set even if you're using 5 minute stuff when it's in hot water?

I only use this with liquid epoxy, 5 minute stuff is usually a paste anyway.

Have you tried loading multiple projectiles into a cartridge?

Do you think this could increase recoil to the point of allowing cycling?

The thing is that the cartridge is not recoil operated, there simply isn't enough energy in it. It relies on air getting between the breech and the cartridge face pushing it out. In this respect a heavier projectile would help because it would stay longer in the barrel and therefore the cartridge would subjected to pressure for longer.

Patience, patience, epoxy is taking forever to set in this cold. At least tomorrow I can speed things up with the lab ovens :)

Update: I mucked up the previous cartridge so I decided to start over with a different bit of piping, it fits nicely in 3/4" pipe and compares well to a 12 bore shotgun cartridge :)

You could always go pump-action and cycle the mechanism manually.
The awesomeness of the pump action should combine well with the looks of a cartridge popping out.

That's a thought. I wouldn't want to replicate a pump action shotgun with a tube magazine though, far too complicated. It would be more practical to make a pneumatic version of the Mag-7, or a straight pull like the XM-26.

Before I resort to that I want to see what the blowback potential of my current cartridge prototype is, I'll test it this afternoon to confirm it's working and if so I'll make a breech-barrel combination and see how that goes.

why don't you try you hand at the aa-12 and make it full auto :P but as far a semis go I would either go Hellboy style and get six barrels goin, but if thats too complicated theres always a gool\d 'ol double barrel tht you could go all btb on and turn into a badass sawn off

I may have to reconsider my semi auto design after having you motvate me... I'm pretty broke currently... Need money first!!!!

Can't wait to see results

If I can get it to cycle a blow back mechanism, full auto will certainly be an option :)

You could certainly get it to work as a combustion, my prototype was promising but I wanted something on a smaller scale.

Breech is currently curing, slowly, so hopefully results within the next two days.

You could make a masterkey shotgun and mount it onto a picatinny rail...
I wonder if you could somehow scale up this cartridge and make like M203 grenade shells.
Heck it would be nice if I could make something like that and mount it to my M4 :D

You can certainly already get 40mm pneumatic shells ;)

You could very easily make a combustion cartridge that size.

maybe i will have to try a combustion cartridge...

off topic somewhat but relative to a gun design i'm considering- JSR have you ever played the video game borderlands?

EDIT: Hmm... played with GGDT a bit to mock up a combustion cartridge...

may have to give this a go as I have all the stuff I would really need

Combustion cartridges would work if you want a bad motherlover grenade launcher type weapon like the QLB-06 or the XM25 ;)

have you ever played the video game borderlands?

Hadn't heard of it before you mentioned it to be honest, but I watched this little trailer which hints at a worthwhile game and at 1:06 suggests it features 87 BAZILLION GUNS!, which one did you have in mind :)

i would definitely recommend it- i have it for the PS3 and its probably my favorite game- very creative guns,

I'm thinking about doing either a revolving shotgun gun, or a double shot shotgun they have.

The guns are very creative, one of the reasons I like it so much.

And there probably are that many in game, just alot of them suck and are not worth using. As you level up you pick up less and less guns because you need more and more powerful ones.

Recommended for sure. If i can find a picture of the gun i plan on modelling it on I will post it

I'll look into it :)

Looking at your HGDT data, looks like a 3/4" marble gun? And if it's cartridges, are you going to have a fan in each one

As discussedhere, a revolver cannon would probably be easier to make than one would think, especially if it's a combustion.

yeah well thats for BBs... I was thinking about launching something a lot beefier :D

I'm not so experienced with combustion cannons anyways but I think I know how I'm gonna make these cartridges.
And there will be no epoxy in them :D
But first I need to get some cash... my budget is drained for this month since I'm replacing the airtank on the M4 and getting a new pump

Good luck :P

This one! You won't be disappointed, 27 bar in your M4 will impress the heck out of you, guaranteed :)

Small footnote: curse you JDP12, this tune is catchy! :D
