Wait, are you storing the hydrogen and oxygen in the same tank? Because that's a perfect mix. A small static spark, and boom. Not little controlled boom. Big Boom. I'd be careful.

Even if it were against the rules, I would be wary with any kind of major heat energy, or burning propellant near PVC, because when burnt it releases one of the worst carcinogens known to man.

piston noise maker

So I'm wondering if it's possible to replicate, or come near the sound level produced by a small exploding water bottle by making a piston setup with a large pilot. The larger the initial shock wave, the better. Personally, I'm thinking it would take a large diameter piston, and a quick pilot. Any t...

Please, oh god please don't build a pneumatic log splitter. Once the wedge starts to split the thing, it'll be so weekended, the pressure will just force the ram right through the log ridiculously quickly, possibly destroying the ram and flinging the halves in opposite directions. They use hydraulic...

What about using the compressed air from venting the piston to drive some sort of cartridge ejection?

Improved Tsukiten's Grenade

I was looking at some old grenade threads, and I saw Tsukiten's design, and I figured how to make it work. I would change 3 things: 1. Place a spring behind the piston, in between that and the schrader valve. 2. Put a check valve in the piston itself, making air move from the right side to the left,...

When I have shot light balls like the ones you show there, always one side has caught the barrel more than another, so it generated random spin in one direction or another, making it absolutely useless.

I'm not sure if these would do it, but that's just my experience.

It is not the pressure that bursts the paintballs but the friction. So if you could sabot them with some paper, you could potentially use as much pressure as you want.

Help with Capacitor ignition

I am working on an electronically triggered camera flash circuit using a capacitor. I am using a triggered spark gap: [urlhttp://www.spudfiles.com/spud_wiki/index.php/Camera_flash[/url]. My problem is that I need to put a switch into the transformer trigger. It is extremely low amperage, but high vo...

The aluminum foil makes the connection between the two electrodes, making a spark. Or just making it hot enough to ignite the mix. but yeah, the range probably isn't all that good.

Yup. But the gun costs about 3 to 4 feet of 2" tubing and an end cap. The projectiles are a cap, a coupler, and a foot of tube each. Basically, this costs near nothing.

I was thinking of using this for airsoft or paintball, but then I realized people wouldn't want large PVC chunks falling on them.

Combustion Mortar concept

Stick with me on this, because I don't have any pictures. My idea is for almost a real action type combustion mortar, where all one has to do is drop the projectiles down the barrel. THE PROJECTILE: The projectiles would be 1.25" PVC. They would be composed of a glued cap, 1.25 " sch40 pvc, and a sl...

No, those were two completely different creations.

I just posted this because I was curious. I didn't intend on building anything with it yet.

I was actually thinking of an idea to spark something using charging capacitors from a battery, but having an adjustable resister before the capacitor, but this seems off topic.
