Re: Possible AC Scroll Compressor Conversion?
Interesting, I was under the impression that fridge compressors were single acting piston compressors... Thanks for the info though, hopefully I already have one somewhere!

Possible AC Scroll Compressor Conversion?
Hey guys, back again :D I was recently able to acquire an old AC compressor, the big scroll kind. It's a Copeland and apparently its real expensive new... but anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has ever used them successfully as air compressors. Doing google searches really only turns up car AC compres...

Re: Hammer Valve Question
I used that one for my hammer valve gun... I do not believe it can be used either way though. Considering that it gets harder and harder to open as pressure increases, pressure from the wrong side would likely just open the valve and go right out the other port.

Re: Piston Gun That Shoots Multiple Times
Looks like a very fun little plinker! I personally would have used a larger diameter pipe for your reservoir so that the pressure wouldn't drop off so fast. Have you tried cracking the valve ever so slightly so that it automatically fills up the chamber without majorly affecting piloting?

Re: DIY Mini Lathe Build Log (Photo Heavy)
Was this before or after that excessive rpm PVC explosion you showed me a video of that one time? :D After that... I had to redeem myself  It's nothing much really, small universal motor powering a belt to the spindle, dual speed, crude chuck, not very rigid nor accurate. I have a video on my ...

Re: DIY Mini Lathe Build Log (Photo Heavy)
Interested to see how this ends up homemade lathes have always been a fascination of mine, so much so that I built one and never actually used it to make any parts

Re: The Offcial Machinist Thread: Revised 01/04/2014
About three years ago or so Jack made me a nose cone for my pengun, but sadly it got lost in the post system somewhere along the way... So today in the lab I had a go at it! Also my first time machining steel so that was fun. Spent quite some time polishing it on the lathe before parting. I'm really...

I'll have to see if we have the proper tool in the lab. If we do I'll have another go at a turner's cube but I'll separate the cubes this time!

Re: The Offcial Machinist Thread: Revised 01/04/2014
Started a class this semester where we design and build a robot from scratch. They are currently teaching us how to use the lathes and mills... we have 4 14" lathes and 4 huge mills, all precise to ten-thousandths of an inch. We also have CNC lathes and Mills, one being a Haas... its like heaven in ...

Any progress on this? Why not modify the sprinkler valve and pilot it with a smaller electronic valve that you can trigger with the garage door opener?

I'm with equusvenustas. In all honesty my life would be very different had I not become a member of this website. The inspiration I got from all of the members here is probably what drove me to experiment with several topics in engineering and even to major in mechanical engineering in college. It's...
