Re: Spudchukker III - Piston Hybrid

I don't have the exact measurements in front of me, but I constructed the piston in such a way that at the most open point, the o-ring section of the piston is at the back of the nipple against the rubber bumper (which isn't shown), and the sealing face is still inside the 'Tee' a little bit. In the...

Re: Quadrotor Discussion

Not really gun related, but I did just recently build myself a quadrotor:

Re: Mr. Fusion - Custom Designed 3D Printer

Okay, if you are running it headless, then you probably will have to change some stuff in the firmware. I don't have have the LCD configured in my own firmware, so I'm afraid I won't be much help. At least you are on the right track with the connections and the hardware end of things.

Re: Mr. Fusion - Custom Designed 3D Printer

One more quick question: What software are you using on your host computer? Printrun (Pronterface), Repetier-Host, etc? (What program do you open to control the printer). EDIT: Actually, having a look through my Configuration.h, I do have quite a few entries relating to the heated bed. It might be w...

Re: Mr. Fusion - Custom Designed 3D Printer

That indicates that you have a RAMPS 1.3 or 1.4 board, which definitely supports a heated bed: http://reprap.org/mediawiki/images/thumb/8/8c/RAMPS1-3_fin.JPG/800px-RAMPS1-3_fin.JPG It should be as simple as wiring the thermistor and the bed to the appropriate pins according to this (assuming it look...

Re: Mr. Fusion - Custom Designed 3D Printer

Okay, you can figure out what board you are using. I'm assuming you know how to compile and upload the firmware. If you open up your firmware .pde file, there should be a bunch of tabs. If you go into Configuration.h, near the top should be #define MOTHERBOARD xx, where xx is the number of your moth...

Re: Mr. Fusion - Custom Designed 3D Printer

Okay, well a Prusa i3 should most definitely have a temperature controlled heatbed. A Prusa is a Reprap derivative, so could have a variety of control electronics and firmware. What electronics do you have?

Re: Mr. Fusion - Custom Designed 3D Printer

Sweet! Whatcha making in the video? What stuff have you made? Some times I stare at my 3d printer for an hour and half. Thanks for posting the full, unadulterated, video. jk First I made a keychain, and then on the video was a filament guard that clipped on the edge of the 0.25" wood I used for the...

Re: 3d printer possible backlash?

^ seconded. I assumed you were having a hardware issue, but it did cross my mind that it could simply be a poor slice. For example, in my own Slic3r settings, I have specified manual extrusion widths through trial and error, as well as tweaking the extrusion multiplier slightly. In my opinion, that'...

Re: 3d printer possible backlash?

What printer do you have? What are the drive mechanisms for the axis? If you have belts, you could try increasing the tension on them slightly. It looks like you have a problem in both axis since the gaps appear on an angle to both X and Y. You could also try reducing the print speed.

Re: BQ prusa i3 3D printer

Looks like I missed this thread a little bit in terms of being helpful, but I do have a bit of experience with calibrating and updating firmware on a Printrboard, which is an Arduino derivative. If you are still having problems with that, or anything else (like the heatbed), feel free to send me a P...

Mr. Fusion - Custom Designed 3D Printer

Hey guys, saw a couple threads on here about 3D printers, and I thought I would show off my latest creation a little bit - Mr. Fusion. I started out with a pretty basic Prusa i2 kit, but I was unsatisfied with the rigidity of the frame and the build dimensions, particularly the height restriction, a...
