To answer your original question, almost nothing. I had a coax with about 250cm^3 chamber, and it was hell to fill with a shock pump. A homemade high pressure stirrup pump would have worked a treat though.

This only goes to 10 bar, but I suspect you'll struggle to get such a low pH with such a weak acid.

O2 is a slightly different beast. You're inhaling it. The stomach is designed to deal with all sorts of nasties. It will vet them, and usually manage to eject what's not good. The lungs aren't quite as capable and will much more readily absorb or deposit what gets in. Oxygen for medical purposes is ...

I've found them to start swelling around 110 (yield strength i think) and then swell a bit and go about 120psi. As above with the safety precautions. Yes they could be harmless, but it's not hard to put a safety screen up. On the plus side, water is not compressible so having them full with water wi...

At lower temperatures the pipe can actually handle higher pressure, but it's impact resistance is lower. In a pneumatic the force of a piston hitting the PVC or a drop could put you in a nasty situation. In a combustion this is not a problem because the "shock" is evenly distributed around the chamb...

Fart powered cannon

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJIz4FlwniI&feature=player_embedded This is only a teaser. I'm holding my breath for the actual episode (geddit?) I don't think it'll work, mainly because nothing works first time unless you're not expecting it to, but also because getting the mix right is pretty hard ...

Partially inflate a balloon with the fuel, inflate the rest with air from a bike pump. Ignite from a distance.

Of course this isn't a quantitative method, but it tells you whether the fuel will burn, and if done consistently it might be possible to compare fuels .

Wound up getting the silicone, and thank goodness I did!
Silicone does not leak, and just uses a hose clip to stay attached. It doesn't need hot glue etc, and is much thicker walled. Well worth the £3 extra.

I forgot to mention a crucial point is that the hose must seal nicely to hosetails, and one connection is clamped straight to a blowtorch head, hence the 3 options i gave. :) Even if it was for something which could use threads or compression i think i would go for plastic in such a low pressure app...

Best hose for use with propene?

What's the best for spudding? I bought some silicone 5mm which has not leaked or slipped without hose clips, very pleased. I also bought some 10mm uPVC hose which leaks like a sieve, even with hose-clips and hot glue, no use at all to me! uPVC seems more rigid than silicone so I'm putting it down to...

Ugh, hand pumps.
Perhaps you could have a stirrup pump and a hand pump, preferentially using the stirrup pump, but using the hand-pump when you can't afford to set down.

I am from the UK, so this may not be available where you are, and may well be called something else. It has apparently been renamed "sticks like" since I used it, and is a very strong "grab adhesive". It was very sticky, and I used it on all the joints in the gun, as the supplier I bought from didn'...

Yes, but it won't be an amount that will be significant, bear in mind that nearly everyone has at least on hole in their chamber for ignition, some have fans, switching systems and a variety of other bits bolted in, I doubt it's anything to worry about. At the end of the day if you want 100% peace o...

My original combustion was ABS to PVC using sticks like sh*t glue. It has been fired hundreds of times, and I trust it enough to be upgrading it to metered mapp this summer. If in doubt, you can just secure it with bolts, as bonding them together will only make the joint fail, the pipe itself is unl...

In The World Of Spuds Today.
This thread is perfect for progress not significant enough for it's own thread.

ITWOST, I have finished my 5-spark system and chamber fan on my old combustion. Even with butane it is BEASTLY, can't wait to get MAP Pro in there!
