One interesting thing with this cartridges is that i am right now not using any rubber sealing between the barrel and the piston, its just POM-C Acetal plastic against metal. And still the cartridge seems to hold the pressure, but i haven't tested it for a longer period of time, just a few hours at m...

I am cutting the threads with the lathe, so then i can get a good thread almost all the way. And if you lock at the plug you can see that the first few millimeter is turned to a slightly smaller diameter. To seal against the burstdisk i have counterbore at the bottom with a rubber/metal washer. http...

No, but with a burstdisk it goes of with a bang. :D
I actually did try to pilot it with the schrader, and without the valve core in place and it almost worked fine.

The barrel is 43mm, so its perfect for golfballs, maybe i should bring it to the driving range for test shooting? :D

Some more work done and a few more pictures. :) Now all the parts for all ten cartridges are finished, so i just started assemble them. The threaded schrader valves i could find locally was to long (you can see one in the 4th picture) and i didn't had time to order from over sea. So i bought 50pcs o...

Large halogen light usually works better , but with the drawback that you will need about 4 time the wattage because of the halogen lights lower efficiency. :) Another way could be to run the from a 3-phase connection, and connect one lamp to each phase. That will give you a much more steady light. ...

To start with i am going to use a counterbored schrader valve.
I am not sure if schraders really are up to 100 bar, but you seems to use them at 50-60bar without much problem?

Here is the "snowmobile" running at "Speed Weekend On Ice" in Orsa Sweden, unfortunately our motor did brake during the run so we didn't get a very high top speed. And some time ago we got a invitation to visit a tractorpulling event, he...

Yes its definitely overkill. :D I will probably mostly use them with 10-15bar pressure, but i believe that they would be safe to use with quite high pressure (tubing is rated to 220bar) . And you are also quite right about the gun, this is the type of gun that was mounted on the car when it was in t...

Vehicle mounted antitank "gun" with preloaded cart

Last week i started a small summer project, a vehicle mounted airsoft gun. A gun that you load with 90mm preloaded pneumatic cartridges. Each cartridge consist of a 400mm long 90x5mm steel tube with threaded end caps, and a coaxial piston-valve that is piloted through a burstdisk. The burstdisk is g...
