Re: Canada prohibits spudguns over 20mm

It says here only one of the characteristics is sufficient unfortunately. from https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/cntrng-crm/frrms/paf-afa-en.aspx "In addition to the list prohibited by model, all firearms with one or more of the following physical characteristics are prohibited on the basis that th...

Re: Little help with my first prototype

I think that the pressure drop is for the chamber. When you see the warning about barrel choking flow it's a sign your chamber is too large for the barrel... should be nice and loud but maybe not the balanced performance you want. Increasing barrel diameter nearly always increases energy, and veloci...

Re: Little help with my first prototype

Looks fun! I agree A is oversize. The reservoir will lose pressure every shot, and if A is not very much smaller than the reservoir, that loss of pressure will be quite noticeable every shot. The hammer valve can have a self regulating effect but that is totally different technology. I have a slide ...

the air cartridge we wanted

Joerg's new toy. I fooled around with this cartridge design decades ago but gave up because it was long before 4500 psi handpumps were available. This sparked interest in it again, maybe with a 40mm size cartridge 8-) ... maybe rimless for better feeding in JSR's brain. https://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: tennis ball gun for my dog

ha ha :) So I actually looked around for this device but could not find anything that matched the description. Just thinking we would need a long stroke to compress enough air in a single stroke to launch a ball any decent distance. Increasing the bore will make it hard to charge. Big valve too. Or ...

Re: Does Ice Bullets Actually Work?

I've pondered this for decades. Daily highs are below freezing here for four months, so keeping an ice projectile solid is not a problem, though I bet -40 ice is stronger than barely frozen. Sabot would help. Smoothbore would help. Potatoes are about the same density as ice and we have all seen the ...

Great stuff!

Yes it's my bought barrels that are oversize. The cpvc seems closer to paintball size.

Re: Finding copper pipe parts

IIRC some builders are sanding out the seam... I can't remember if I have done that but was going to when I get some time off, using a dowel and sandpaper. Slitting the business end of the dowel would allow shims to be inserted, sort of like old school rifling tools. Smaller pipe would also work ins...
