I will be working at a Navy lab all summer, so no free time for me (though I get to use some awesome equipment; too bad I don't work where they have the light gas gun for materials testing [The whole section is for materials testing, I am working on power electronics materials]). Just a small revamp...

It is a school essay, I hardly doubt it will draw more than a "what is that?"
Well in my school anyways....

You dont need to break it. Just get a metal one, unscrew the handle, and turn it upside down.

When using lower rated wire, you have corona issues. Don't be surprised if you find a static build up on your (especially PVC) gun.

Blender3D.

It rivals high end commercial products like autodesk Maya (many people have even switched to Blender from Maya). The render engine is VERY good.
Only downside is it takes a little longer to learn.
Still amazes me what people can do with Blender (check out blenerartists.org).

With the low amount of power you are using, I would blame it on mass.

SCR trigger currents are VERY low. I could trigger a large 5000A one with ~2v.

Make sure you drive the SCR gate hard (add a capacitor in parallel with your trigger PSU). If the gate signal is too weak, the gate doesn't open fully/opens slowly, and causes more heating.

The inlet connection is copper, therefore it heats up almost evenly from the internal heat. The temperature difference between the air and the warm copper tube is negligible. You need to actually cool it. I don't know, use another compressor and wrap the input of this compressor with it :) You can s...

Agreed. Fans are pointless. Not only do you not have fins, but they put on a nice smooth gloss finish for you. In addition to that, these are potted, epoxy does not conduct heat well at all. Why do you think electronics that need cooling have copper fronts/backs/cases? If you really want to cool it,...

Im just speaking from personal experience. If your using a aluminum wire, that gives you no chance of finding any fragments. you would be lucky to find a aluminum splatter. When ever I use aluminum, the left over aluminum always has a nasty habit of looking exactly like soot or any burned material...
