Reversing a Blowgun

Unread postAuthor: Mitchza89 » Thu Oct 18, 2007 6:30 am

G'day guys, 1st post in a while! I'd love to attatch one of the gun style blowguns up to my bb rifle. I'd have it attatched via the nozzle. Would this work? I remember very clearly that Meklor used one in that fashion for his marble gun. It seemed to work fine for him.

Cheers!

Above a certain pressure it will start to leak, what the pressure will be depends on the individual make of blowgun. You can find this out easily by hooking it up to a pump or compressor and making a note of when the hissing starts ;)

Mmm thats really weird. I don't know why it would leak.

This is what a typical blowgun mechanism looks like:

blowgun patent

As you can see, when filled from the normal end, the air pushes on the seal so the more pressure you pile onto in, the more it will seal. If you had to fill it from the opposite end, it will only retain as much pressure as its spring can take.

Then thats an easy fix. Put in a heavier spring ;) There is a place near mine that sells every spring type you can possibly imagine. Thanks alot for that Jack.
