.................I'm in Trouble.

Unread postAuthor: Redcoat » Sun Nov 04, 2007 3:44 am

Hi all,

Well today, me and my neighbour were shooting at certain "Airborne Targets"
and we was shooting my Pneumatic RPG with nail darts in it.

Well A shot missed at about 60psi and flew straight over my fence and has gotten embedded in my other neighbours wooden wall lining. Embedded about 4 inches and the stabilizing fin sticks out as it's painted pink, so I can see it to pick it up.

Has anyone else been in this situation before? When you've done something wrong and you know your gonna get found out at a later date......

Well, I think I'll keep my spudding on the down low for a week.

When your neighbour cant see you, jump over the fence with a hammer and pull the dart out, or just jump over and rip the the "fins" off so its not so noticable.
Haven't had this exact situation happen to me but I do know the feeling

 if you don't mind me saying... you are an idiot  everyone know not to shoot into the air when there is a possibility of it hitting someone or someone's property on the way down. i personally shoot stuff up in the air over a field next to my house. and as for getting it back pyro ninja has the right idea.

If you were shooting at "airborne targets" then nail darts were possibly the worst sort of ammunition you could have used, because it's the one that retains the most energy and is potentially the most dangerous to people and property - next time use a sabot and a load of BBs/lead shot.

As to your current situation I agree with the following:

When your neighbour cant see you, jump over the fence with a hammer and pull the dart out, or just jump over and rip the the "fins" off so its not so noticable.

If they are cool, go over and knock on the door, and say you accidentally launched a nail over the wall and if you can retrieve it. When i accidentally threw one of my throwing knives over the wall, i went over and asked for it back, they didn't mind. But a nail lodged into a fence is a little different to a knife sitting on the floor....

I would say when they aren't home jump over and retrieve it.

Too right, a nail lodged 4 inches into wood proves that it could have been potentially lethal had someone been in its path, and no matter how "cool" the neighbour is that's enough to freak anyone out. There are no excuses for compromising the safety for others through gross irresponsibility.

Marco-wtf-? Don't get me wrong spud brother, but if i found a THROWING KNIFE embedded into MY property, and i knew where it had come from- well lets just say i would be VERY UPSET, and would probably have STERN words with them. Again, don't shoot into areas without knowing they are inhabited :P
Edit: make that uninhabited :D

 well he is obviously not very good because he threw a knife into someone's garden so if he practices inside he might get his knife stuck in a wall or something.

Just pull the fins off, mabye then they'll think it just came from an ordinary hammer one way or another.

I did something like this a while ago. I was shooting eraser-tipped arrows from a homemade bow out a second story window in our old house in slidell. One went completely over the fence and smacked into our neighbors truck, right when he walked out of the door. He look at me, and I looked at him, and I said "Hey." We had a good laugh about it later. Didn't do anything, though.

Bah, I know this feeling. The oh crap, did we seriously just do that?

You said it was embedded in their fence or their house? The latter might be worse to fix... :?

Your best bet is to just wait until they leave, and grab it... Or, if they don't know you are the dude with the launchers, you might get away with just removing the fins.

I managed to launch a water rocket into a neighbour's garden by mistake some time back - the "Bloody HELL, I didn't think it would go that far" problem. (But some people have the "Holy crap, I didn't realise it would go through my shed" problem instead)
In future, all tests were pointed in a different direction, regardless of how far the jury say it will go.

I hope you've learned the same lesson.
