personally i would have used off the shelf parts from the start... but thats just me, it may have soemhting to do with my lack of epoxy experience or it may just be lazyness. but i guess i will never understand your remarkable fondness of epoxy :)

It's simply the freedom to make your own parts to your own specifications, it's a more challenging form of construction but the end result is much more efficient and compact that standard parts - also, as far as material costs go, it's much, much cheaper.

Back to the auto-piston prototype, I've broken it open and set the mould in a more disaster-resistant manner, or at least I think it is - all will be revealed in another 24 hours

It is a unit of time measurement when it comes to building something - since curing epoxy is the longest part of the process, I calculate that I could build a certain project in say two or three "sessions" - In this case, the minimum was two, because the cast piston would have to be sanded down before being fixed in place. The problem with attempting many different castings at once is that if something fails, the leak is usually terminal, which is why good mould preparation is so vital.

You win ten brownie points for the use of the word fortitude, bravo! Now get off my thread with your epoxied spawn of Satan

My mother's an English teacher too y'know ;p

And hey, you're the one who appropriated my designation (auto-piston v4.0) as the title of this project, where else can I post'

Testing within the hour, I'll post the results in a new thread then :D

Can't wait...

I'm struggling to find something to make the hybridised version out of, and am wondering about the pressure ratings on a solid block of perspex.

For a start it'd be easier for to to drill out than say steel and also there's the transparency, which will make it easy to see when to stop drilling... oh and might look cool when it goes off.

Looks like it - the piston assembly did succesfully pop open, but then the base blew out precluding further testing. The offending component has been repaired and is curing. Honestly, if it doesn't work well I'm abandoning this concept for good and working on something completely different, it's become too depressing and it's even affecting my work, I'm more distracted than usual.

Still a pneumatic auto (I'd love to make a big powerful single shot beast, but I wouldn't have the space to fire it) just a different system :P who knows, maybe even a gatling.

I need a spare wheel rack made up for my new toy.

looks like that's not the only rack that needs to be enhanced ;)

Give it up and order a Snapvalve , QEV's etc at:

http://cid-432434d9d3d3b085.spaces.live ... fault.aspx

Muhahaha

Honestly I have an appointment to register at the chamber of commerce ( in Holland that is) tomorrow.

Have a pretty good deal on cheap PVC, and will be the ONLY supplier of QEV's to non pro's.
Anything to help the " virus" spread

I need a Dutch IPLA meet!!
