Fred, posting

Unread postAuthor: fred » Wed Jan 02, 2008 10:45 am

Hi, all. I have to admit I have been lax about posting new items. It is winter up here and things are on hold for a while. I have a lot to post and share when time again permits. I started my full auto cannon but need to wait till other things get done like getting rid of all this snow.
I do have a question though. I have a lot of diagrams and pictures to post. I,m just not sure where to post them. I seems many get lost in all the forums here. I,m not sure I want to get involved in a Chat Room situtation. It seems most question have been answered a hundred times. Anyway, this is a great site and I would still like to be involved and share what I can. Happy new year to all.

There's so many sections here Fred, surely your creations must fit in one category or another. And don't worry about them being lost either, the good stuff is always being dragged up or linked to :)

Yeap, as said above just go ahead and post your stuff in the various sections it applies to. Say you have a valve design you would like to share, then put it in the pneumatic discussion section. If you want to show a big combustion you build a few months ago, then put it in the Combustion Showcase area!

My only word of warning would be to please use the SpudFiles uploader vs using something like Photobucket. While Photobucket is great, those pictures you post will stay on SpudFiles forever, but who knows when they may disappear on Photobucket. Years from now an image attached properly to a post on SpudFiles will still be here, but many linked pictures from Photobucket and such will no longer work!

all those years of being an admin made you sound like a talking program...

but anyway fred i don't think it will be a problem with the uploading, as PCGUY said it's just a matter of contents

Ahhh... so you don't mind use using up your storage, PC? I've been using a combination of both the uploader and Photobucket, trying not to use up all your server space.

I guess for all the good stuff I'll use the uploader.

Hey Fred ur stuff looks great. I wont and will never ask you for plans on your guns. They are way too perfect for that, and it doesnt work anyways. Eventhough I am really curious about dimensions or some physics behind it all. For example I am wondering how much bigger the ram area should be compared to the valve area. What is ur operating pressure. What kind of valve do you use? (tippmann style>single tube or a spyder like valving). Oh yeah and I have another good one, as I saw u dont have a chronograph. My method is to record the shot using a computer of mp3 player. Measure the distance from the guns barrel to the target. Distance/time= average velocity I use this program called audacity to c how many seconds it took to reach the target. If the distance is really big you have to subtract the 340/distance from the time measured. By the way everything is in meters.

Here are the basic plans. I,m sure they need explaining at some point. The co2 uses a Palmer regulator at about 200 pounds as I recall.
A note to MrCrowley, what problems?
I will resend at another time, they came through rather fuzzy.
