You could always use Windows calculator and some good ole fashioned Grade 8 Math...

Well, as a quick refresher course:
Volume of a cylinder= pi x radius^2 x length

Windows calculator is a function that comes with all Windows operating systems. Click "Start", then go to "Programs", then "Accesories". Calculator will be in the list.

I still think the manual method is faster, especially if you're doing a lot of calculations and fiddling. I wasn't even aware that there were C:B calcs, I just figured that people simply did it themselves. Do you understand the formula I posted?

Glad to see all the crap removed from this thread, hopefully along with its poster.

I was kind of talking to sjog about understanding the volume formula, but whatever.
Anyhow, I'm off to research. I think I've inadvertently engaged myself in a race to build the forum's first working plasma rifle

Don't think it needs to be seen as a race. I'll be interested to see how your design works, and how close it is to my concept.

Shooting plasma as ammunition would involve massively powerful magnetic containment systems, and is currently out of reach to anything but well funded military projects (who would rather stick to good old lead and DU), as well as being a hell of a lot more trouble than it's worth.

@Rag: my design isn't quite as advanced as your's, but what it lacks in refinement it will hopefully make up for in shear brute force...

I'll PM you about an issue I've encountered so far.
