Solar wrote:Wow Rag... why the hell do you have to live in the UK?

Well, I live here mostly because I was born here.

I was hoping to send a few different barrel lengths and bores. shhhh, it can convert between 38mm and 40mm with the same threading on barrels. Wanted to send some other ballast chamber goodies and such.

Well, with a whole heap of things like that, I think that would probably add weight to it being a paintball gun - all you have to do is just add "customisable" into the description somewhere. Or "tactical" - that's popular these days. :P

When talking about interchangeable barrels, it's an area to be walked carefully, but I think it's possible. I'll need to talk to you at some point to work out exactly what you want to ship though.

Other than that, I like the idea of having obvious paintball packaging.

What exactly do you already provide in the way of manuals and the like?
I'm not going to be at home for a couple of weeks, and given that it's the best choice of shipping location and that I'd rather want to be there either to receive it, or respond to any letters customs send through - there's at least that amount of time before sending anything becomes advisable.

That gives me the time to, if you want it, help you create some of that kind of paperwork to go with the marker (regardless of who you're shipping to, me or anyone else).

What school are you going to be attending? Perhaps we can do some sort of research grant to the school with you in charge of the project or something.

Well, I'm currently talking to you from the University of Surrey. I think getting them involved is on the unlikely side though. Some of the staff here know of my interest in launching, but taking up a project like that within this stage in my course isn't particularly viable.

20? hahaha, you talk like a much older nerd Ragnarok.

I probably read that way - at least in part - because I put effort into good spelling and grammar. I have a mother with a degree in linguistics, so I've picked up some of that anality about writing.
I also went straight into university after passing my "high school", so I've been talking about the engineering degree I'm working towards for as long as I've been posting on these forums.

I'm rather obsessed with the subject, and my mind is like a giant sponge. It just soaks up information, so I know my fair share about spudding.

I also think the obvious British accent of my writing () also gives me that sound of being wise and mature. It also makes me sound like a Hollywood villain. :tongue3:

What about you JSR? Didn't think I asked your age either? Please don't say 14 or something like that.

I believe he's 26.

Argh, Mr "Everything has to be said in a low whisper". That programme has got a lot of great things on it, but IMHO, he's not one of them.

We have an assembly manual almost complete. Just need some more text, but all the step by step pics are done. Shouldn't be tough to add a good paintball-esqe cover.

Shipping in pieces might be the best way. Nothing identifies it as a gun except for the trigger assembly which could be sent as a replacement part for a paintball gun.

How about as an automatic potato masher?

Sounds good.
If you should happen to want my opinion on that as well (and you've got a .pdf or something), I've not got a lot to do for the next couple of weeks, because I have only one hour and a bit exam in the whole of the two week semester-end exam period - which I'll be in after this last week of classes.

If my internet goes down during those two weeks, I will be royally bored out of my skull. :(

Yeah, it's probably the best option, as it avoids any fuss with customs trying to test it, assuming it doesn't all go through on the same shift and they get suspicious about all of these "plumbing parts" being shipped to the same address.

I don't know exactly what parts it breaks down into, but there's got to be a way to make it convincingly "inert" - other than the pistol grip, and like has been said: paintball/pressure washer spare

It doesn't necessarily tell you anything about importing to this country (unless of course potential customers over here are willing to do self assembly), but it's almost certainly the most reliable option.

What ever you do tell us how it tuned out, i doubt i am the only one here who would find it great if you acctually got to test this. Oh and to add to our little list of objects we could call it to get through customs: Include a tennis ball racket and call it what MrCrowley said.

(note to self: I wonder if that would work... I really like fries...)

26 :p

By the way, you're better off sending it straight to me, the Eclipse is so removed from anything anyone has seen here that none of my normally accomodating gun dealing aquaintances want to have anything to do with it  I'm sure they'll come around when they see it in action though :D

Of course - the forum will hear about some of the stuff I'm up to.
Obviously, not everything, only what Solar's happy with me telling you, and I'll likely leave out all the precise details...

And my partner in crime has finally admitted his involvement - although Solar probably gave the game away first. :P

Maybe If you stopped referring to it that way we'd stand a better chance of importation ;p

Fine: collaborator, fellow lackey, uffer dood wots doin' the same fing as me.

You won't want all the detail. If I were to give you all that, 99.9% of people would skip across most of it.
Besides, I'm sure Solar doesn't want the stuff we'll be doing paraded across an open website, and I'm sure you can respect that.

What ever you give us we will accept and be happy with. Of coarse we respect that Solar want some "privacy" for the gun, i would do the same.

You make the Eclipse sound like an angsty teenager, with demands of privacy. :D
