Unread postAuthor: c11man » Mon Mar 15, 2010 8:43 pm

so like my other thread this is for my possible spring project. it will be out of all sch 80 so of course the tee will also be sch 80. i need to know if the piston that rides in the 2inch sch 80 pipe would be albe to fit through the tee. any help is appreciated!

well idk if this helps.. but...

1.25" sch40 couplings and caps fit well in sch40 2 inch...

and the Ts normally have little lips that make sure the pipe cant run all the way though. but typically if something can fit in the 2 inch.. it can fit in the T.. because Ts are made for the pipe to slide in....

btw.. im really tired so i might not be reading your question right...

Don't you have a set of calipers? Why not measure it with those?

Yeah, it's that important.

Generally the lip has a larger diameter than the inside diameter of the pipe. So I would say that the piston will ride through the whole tee if it fits in the 2" pipe. I know it is like that with Sch. 40 anyway.

@lockednloaded, im not sure how you mean to make a piston if the tee is too small :?:

@Mrcrowley. i know that is the case for sch 40 but on the largest sch 80 my localstores sells (3/4inch) the piston would not fit through. this is why i am asking

If you think about it, SCH 80 2 inch pipe has a nominal 1.913 inch ID with +/- .040 inch tolerance. So to prevent any restriction of flow my guess is a 2,00 inch through hole.

So I would think a piston OD around that size would work. Start at 2.0625 OD and 3.0 inch long. It all depends on ID of your pipe for the piston sleeve. SCH 40 or SCH 80. You can always reduce the size later.

so i guess i am going to assume it is big enough and have Sgort machine it to fit in sch80 pipe. so anyone have thoughts on how to make the valve work when the od of the porting tube is the same as the ID of the piston sleeve? ( 1 1/2inch pvc and 2inch sch 80 witch we all know makes the great fit found in golfball barrells)
