Fat Cannon

Unread postAuthor: Tommy_TreeTop » Wed Jun 15, 2005 9:44 am

OK im making somewhat of a simple combustion cannon. But im using a grill igniter for the ignition and im going to try to build a fan into it. Also im going to make interchangeable barrels along with mounting a Right guard can so the spray fires directly thru a hole into the chamber. The can will be able to snap in and out though so i can switch bottles.

bad idea with attatching the rightguard right to it, no check valve, the nozzle could catch fire, and an open hole in a spudgun means escaping searing hot gasses

For the launcher length of 3 feet, you'll get the most possible power with a 7" chamber. It'll be easier to mix too.

hey mate

im probably wrong with this
but if you did mount the right guard it would be usless because after each shot you have to take the endcap off to airrate the chamber or your cannon will fire like crap (please correct me if im wrong)
(not to mention the dangers)

btw could you tell me how to make interchangable barrels can i add it onto a already built cannon if not dont worry about it (do you just do the breach loading type thing in the how tos)
sorry if i should have googled first im just tired and couldnt be bothered atm

thanks

OK first your right about the needing to airate the chamber. It was just an idea. A really bad idea though my friend that has a cannon did it and doesnt hav any problems.

2nd-No you cant add interchangable barrels to an allready made cannon to my knowledge but im a newbie so i dont know anything. But for a normal cannon ur building you put a female adapter on the end of your barrel and screw it in like normal. (corrrect me if im wrong on this) thats the way i was told to make interchangeable barrels so yea.

Peace

You can too add interchangable barrels to a compleated cannon!
Simply cut the barrel off to a couple inch stub, and cement a threaded adapter on the stub.

I built a cannon with a 4" by 24" chamber and it didn't have any more power than a 14 " model I already had so I cut it back to 17" or maybe it was 16" but at this length you can have a reasonable lenght barrel of say 60" , really good power ,easier ,faster detonations. It seems to me to be the best overall practicaly monster you c an build unless you go to larger pipe, like 6 or 8" and a fatter barrel.but then it gets heavy to lug around.

Half inch or 3/4 inch should hold a AA battery, never really made one with a msall barrel, though I have planned on it.
