one side of the moon is not always in darkness, it is also in light just as much, think of when there is a new moon, or a half moon.

When the moon orbits earth one side is kept facing us continually while the other side stays in complete darkness. New moon half moon etc.. all have to do with the one side that faces us being covered in darkness. No human had ever even seen it until the Soviet Luna 3 Probe launched in 1959 took some photographs.

Exactly, if one side is ALWAYS facing us and as you said
New moon half moon etc.. all have to do with the one side that faces us being covered in darkness.
then that must mean that the side facing us is alternately in darkness and in light, and if the side facing us is dark, then the side facing away from us must be light.
Both sides must be equally in light and darkness. however is the moon revolved in such a way that only one side faced the sun, then your statement would be true

The moon orbits earth every 27 or so days, as its angle to the earth and the sun changes over this time we get the different phases because of our viewing angle in relation to that of the sun and the moons position.

If you don't believe me just do a bit of research, the answer will not be hard to find.

The same side of the moon always faces us and both the near side and far side recieve approximately the same amount of sunlight.

Edit: And I don't seriously believe that the Americans invented everything. That would be stupid. It's called sarcasm, learn it.

what about lunar eclipses when the earth blocks light to the moon? then the ENTIRE moon is in darkness.

EDIT: YAY someone agrees with me! :)

Of course I agree with you. Because you're right. The same side of the moon is always facing towards the earth. That means that as it rotates about the Earth, the side that recieves light is always changing. Cannon Freak, I don't know how old you are, but if you're anywhere near high school you should know this stuff.

thanks.

Also, America didn't invent every thing, because Chuck Norris invented America! Our country is not a democracy, its a Chucktatorship.

EDIT: paaiyan, is that a hamster with a pancake on its head?

NO! It's a bunny with a pancake on its head. And I'll concede that Chuck Norris might have invented America. But Bruce Li could still kick his butt.

it does look like a bunny, but i dont see its ears....

Bruce could possibly own Chuck, but the combined forces of Mr. T and Chuck would obliterate Bruce Li

Well its ears are underneath the pancake. And I say that Bruce Li could own Chuck Norris because he taught Chuck Norris. As for the combined forces of Chuck and Mr. T, I still don't know. Bruce Li was freakin awesome man, he invented cool.

ah, i can imagine the ears being underneath the pancake, where in America :D did you find that image tho?

now, you have to admit that a coalition of Sean Connery, Chuck norris, and Mr. T could over come any threat posed by Bruce Li.

Apparently Sean Connery lost his virginity when he was 8....

All three of them I'd go with, it's Sean Connery that turns the tide though. Best James Bond ever. And I found the picture on Google. Then I cropped the words out because you couldn't read them at this size anyway.

Lol, the ignorance in this topic.
Well as for who made the first "modern" potato gun, I have no idea, probably an engineer or someone with a descent amount of knowledge.

Well for me, not so much ignorance as sarcasm. But we did manage to get little off-topic huh? From the invention of potato guns to the moon to whether or not Chuck Norris could beat Bruce Li. Hmm. That's boredom for you.
