Rated to 230? Dang, that's pretty tough stuff, how thick is it?

To do that, you would have to have a massive tap set, a machinist might have those kind of tools.

Doesn't sound much stronger than PVC

but, in the unlikely event that it would fail
i would much rather have ABS in my hands than PVC

ABS is not much better than PVC when it comes to holding pressure, but it far surpasses PVC in terms of shock resistance (can be used for oxy/fuel cannons, and wont shatter if subjected to impact), durability, and failure characteristics (If you are holding a PVC chamber when it ruptures, there is a good chance you will die. If you are holding an ABS chamber when it ruptures, you might suffer some temporary loss of hearing).

Sandman, I think you should go with solid wall DWV ABS rather than pressure rated ABS if doing so would save you $200. DWV ABS is better than pressure rated PVC for a combustion cannon application.

I did, and this chamber has seen about 50 shots without incident. My other combustion guns use the same type of material, and in total have seen close to 500 shots.

Did you have to order it online, or did you just go to a home improvement store like lowes?

Its area dependent.
Not most lowes have it.
And as for safety, pressure rated ABS is overkill.
PVC is perfectly fine, but do whatever you want its your money/
