Plumbing GOO safe?

Unread postAuthor: flamerz14 » Wed May 30, 2007 9:08 am

Recently I saw this glue called Plumbing GOO and its claims that it is safe for PVC joining.I also noticed it was somewhat cheaper than standard PVC cement.Should I use it?

By the way, is primer nesacary?

Primer IS necessary. without it your pvc does not get soft. then the joint becomes weaker.

Plumbing Goop is not designed to bond piping in pressure applications. Use cement and primer.

so the PVC expands some what when under pressure. If it was rigged it would just blow up!

Wtf?

Primer softens the surface of the pipe, enabling the polymers of the pipe and fitting to more effectively flow together. When the solvent evaporates, the assembly is just as "hard" as the remainder of the pipe.

50 bucks? here its only SGD 8 for a 500ml tube. Ok, understood. So the primer sofetns the surface of the pipe so it can better fit together. Wouldn't a layer of cement cover up any other leaks if the pipes and joints didn't fit properly?

Mate get your self a rubber mallet so you can tap everything together and you should have i tite seal as most PVC parts adapt to each other so its a sealed join. just make sure your tapping things together befor the glue drys!! other wise it aint going to happen any time soon!
