The galling thing is that at least, you're a teenager, so it's accepted, nay expected that you have this sort of mindset. i'm 24, should have grown out of it by now :?[/quote]

Actually i'm 27 years young and plan on making spudguns for MY grandchildren!

Spudguns are illegal where i live but i think i will offer to make him a low power ball launcher for his beloved k-9's. ( seeing as though you all think it's a great idea! )
I was thinkin of building a "telescopic" kind of gun where you can slide the chamber to vary the power- or capacity, that way you could vary range as your doggy gets tired :tongue3:

How do i lock it so it don't slide back with the bang and own me but? Any ideas would be appriecated.

Peace
Scotty

Edit @ Scotty: Rather than a teleoscoping gun, I would put a 1" metal ball valve on the gun. You could open it a certain amount, and allow less gas pressure to go through the barrel. Just shield the end of the valve so noone burns themself and you're set.

Everytime I shoot my 1.7:1 combustion, I hear dogs barking about 3-4 seconds later. I think I know whos dogs they are, but they live like a half mile away.

Just a random thought, can you imagine what the guns will be like 20 years from now? I mean, 10 years ago how many hybrids do you think there were?

I can just see forum discussions in 20 years.

There were no hybrids 10 years back. DR only produced the first (known) hybrid about 3 or 4 years back now, IIRC.

In 20 years, plastics technology will have considerably improved, so that it will be possible to use higher pressures in a pneumatic, but combustion tech will remain limited by the same factors that affect them today. A huge amount of the power loss in a combustion comes from heat loss, which is difficult to curb.

However, hybrids may well be running into double figures of mix numbers on a regular basis, and DDT will just be another common effect.

Auto combustions would indeed be commonplace - I wouldn't be surprised to see the first few in the next year.
Automatic hybrids would logically follow, but that would obviously take rather longer. (Unless of course the first auto combustion was also the first auto hybrid, which isn't that unlikely)

Of course, battery technology and compressor tech may well allow fully portable pneumatics that top-up automatically via a miniature compressor and battery pack.

The rising limits of technology will only really aid the most experienced builders, as there will always be someone who made a simple spudgun that runs on a spray can, forgot to use primer, and used DWV (if of course, those things are still in existence)

The base end of spudding won't move, but the heights of the hobby would have gone towards the heavens.

Novacastrian: How about use whatever the heck you can get your hands on?
frankrede: Well then I guess it won't matter when you decide to drink bleach because your out of kool-aid.
...I'm sorry, but that made my year.

Thanx for that idea, it's certainly a lot simpler than what i had anticipated!

@Jacksmirkingrevenge, I disagree, When you are a teenager it is accepted, then when you are 50 years old it is expected
Damn old perverts are funny- like my grandpa :P

@scotty, shoot his dogs, so then he wont have anything to complain about. DON'T accually do that. If you neglect my advise and do it anyways than make sure and post it before you get taken to prision!
Seriously, if you do, I DID NOT say it.

Yeah, I think you should offer to build and sell KILLJOY a pneimatic, just incase they dont get used to a combustion. Just don't shoot the dogs...

Sorry for hyjakin this thread, but...

Hey specialist, I am in in Indiana right now on vacation! I have 50$ to spend at Krazy Kaplan's Fireworks. Me and my neighborhood spudders are shooting off our guns, fireworks and dry ice bombs next wkend. Any recomendations for some thing to amaze them? I will launch them in PA. It is legal to shoot bottle rockets, and I belive I saw a civilian fire about 20 show-quality fireworks here.
