Talk about what ever......keep the political bantering in the "Politics" section.

A few years ago I was part of a team involved in connecting a power cable up to a drill platform in Cook Inlet Alaska.
Although we planned very carefully to install the cable at the slackest time of the year...Mother Nature almost caused us to make headlines.
In the middle of the night, on my watch, the current came up very strong and almost pushed us under the platform.
We came so close to losing everything. My wheelhouse was inches away at one point in the night.
I don't miss it.

We had two 10,000 pound anchors out about 2500' upstream, two very strong lines attached to the drill platform. Two tractor tugs @ 2000 HP each and 4ea 500 HP thrusters mounted on each corner of the barge operated by computer......and it almost wasn't good enough. This was a video I just remade with a new xmas computer.

The current is so strong in Cook Inlet, if you get into a aluminum boat on a strong tide you can hear the boulders crashing into each other from the current. It's very noisy. ... ater9.html

This is the funniest thing that I've seen in a while, simply because of the "Stage 2: Anger" part of the video!

Pretty good ventriloquist. Not only that, but he apparently lives pretty close to me.
