okay, well i was relatively new at spudding, i was about 15, and i had built my first cannon, just a small little thing with a bbq igniter and i had too much fuel in the chamber and it didnt light. stupidly, i wasn't using the right stuff, i was using nitro cleaner for my bro's remote control gas car and the stuff is 20% nos... i guess it had sort of lit in the chamber but not really.. i unscrewed the endcap and blew on all the smoke i saw in there. suddenly, this massive flame shot out in my face and i nearly lost an eyebrow, but all the hair shriveled and it kind of cured. it was kind of funny in retrospect, but ill never try that again!:D

Rule number 1: never look into a chamber or barrel! You should have used a mirror if you wanted to look.

Rule number 2: build a combustion launcher with a chamber fan to make the mix much better so you don't need to worry about rule number 1

Once I poured gasoline in the fire pit to make it easier to light at about 2 or 3 am. I lit it and found out it was kerosine. I couldn't back off fast enough. All my hair was singed and curled back. My face was burnt and hurt like hell.

Gasoline would be worse than kerosene...it evaporates more quickly (hence, big gaseous fireball. The liquid doesn't burn, its the gas).

The flame lit up the whole back yard light daytime. My parents were still awake layin in bed and couldn't see the ground at all from their angle out of the 2nd story window. They said they saw everything all of a sudden become bright as hell. That flame was easily 15 to 20 feet high.
