Paintball Bolt

Hey, well I suddenly got into paintball. And what better use for my mini-lathe then to build a new delrin bolt?

Here is a pic of the old one and the new one.

It works great. Its quieter and quicker. I haven't had a single chop yet, with about 2 cases of paint.

I was thinking about making more so I could pay back myself for the delrin (I had to get 5'), but after it took me 6 hours or so, I decided against it. I may sell the delrin to some paintball dudes though.

I'm in the middle of modding a tigershark a friend gave me into an 8mm airsoft sniper rifle. I have to make a new bolt as well as feeding apparatus and barrel.

BTW- I get my plastics off eBay for really cheap. You can get much shorter lengths there, too.

Just wondering, how much did that 5' cost you? What diameter did you start with? 1"?

Umm...I got it from mcmaster. I think it was around $11.5 for a 3/4" x 5' piece. Shipping was like 8 bucks though.

Not a bad custom bolt, i'm guessing it's a spyder?

Did you put a venturi in it or is it strait-thu?

Its a strait through. Yep its a spyder all right. That one's for a Sonix pro, but I'm about to get a Pilot ACS, which is also a top cocking bolt (and it might fit in that one too). Luckily, Kingman saved me the effort and already has a delrin ACS bolt in the marker.

Oh, and also, if you are curious, the new one isn't actually 3/4 of the size of the old one;). Its actually exactly the same size, but it looks smaller from the angle. Some people on the paintball forum asked me about that:D.
