8 and a half tons of homemade rocket thrust!!

Post stuff here pertaining to non-spud related projects that many forum members seem to enjoy. Hovercrafts, dirt bikes, electronics, propane-powered bikes, go-karts, etc. This is more of a project area,
not a place to chat about what you saw yesterday on TV. Remember to keep it within the forum rules!

OK I didn't make it, the Rocketeers did for the boys at Top Gear (which is a BBC TV motoring show for those not in the know). But here it is anyway.

For the YouTubers:
Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AwVnfo_3Sk

Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOc1mjH9bKQ

And for the Googlers:
Parts 1&2 http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... 0882387819

No idea why I get the annoying bit of code with YouTube, but frankly, who cares. Watch it quick before the Beeb find it and ask for it to be removed.

hahah class!

I love the way those blokes dedicate massive resources to the most unlikely of projects, although to be honest I agree with James, i really would have liked thise one to work, and it was all going so swimmingly in the beginning... That final explosion generater more of an "awwww!" than a "phoar!"

Some other fascinating top gear clips:

Oh my, that is amazing. No offense meant to the Brits, but that show is the only thing that makes me jealous of them.

We don't have any shows that would do anything near that amazing, and if we did they would make it into some overblown 2 hour special. I guess the huge explosions that the mythbusters occasionally do are pretty sweet, but this is still on a whole different level.

That was absolutely fantastic! I cant even imagine how much bank they had to have to get that ready in such a short time.

I wish I lived where I could get this show on TV.

just say money.....
the term "bank" is so gay, like straight up homo.

That was probably one of the coolest things ever done! Obviously, it would've been better if it worked, but that big explosion at the end was pretty damn cool.

No offense to Americans but your shows... well, suck.

You're probably familiar with Junkyard Wars - it's the US version of the British Scrapheap Challenge. Both shows revolve around exactly the same concept, two teams competing to build machines out of scrap, but the latter show is so much more enjoyable because it assumes the viewer has some sort of IQ and is presented in a much more intellingent manner.

There are exceptions of course, Mythbusters is infinitely better than Braniac
