8" Gun is in the making

Post questions and info about combustion (flammable vapor) powered launchers here. This includes discussion about fuels, ratios, ignition systems and anything else relevant to launchers powered by igniting things like hairspray or propane.

Well, since I have that hunk of 8" PVC in my backyard, I need to do something with it. My parents won't let me make combustions, and a pneumatic would be extremely expensive, so I'm making a combustion gun, but at my friend's house. I win. :D
Anyhoo, Latke's FuelTool says that I'm going to need a 3/4" propane meter pipe that's 21.6" long. This will be fun! I'm using a unique (as far as I've seen) ignitiong system, that's cheap and simple, I'll elaborate more on it when I post the cannon, which should be within a month or so.

I have the propane meter done, I'll try to get a couple pics. The meter is 3/4" galvanized steel x 36" long. There's a tiny leak somewhere, I have to find it.

That is exactly what my friend does. Leave it at my house. I always test new stuff on his guns. He makes them so simple and I just cant resist.

How long is the pipe?. What will you shoot with it? I guess you could shoot footballs and make some quarterback cry. Can't wait to hear about the ignition system

OOOOOOOOOOO do bowling balls fit in 8" or is it like 8.5"

Must .... see....pictures........................drool

In my part of the world we've been doing that for centuries now :D, from this page:

quote:
The Turkish commander cut off the knights' heads, impaling them on spikes for the view of the other Order defenders across the bay, and nailed the bodies slashed with great crosses to boards floated across to the other side. Stung to the quick, the knights decapitated their Turkish captives and shot their heads from cannons into the Turkish camp.
