everybody has seen those little "champagne bottle poppers where you pull the string and they shoot out all those streamers and crap, but the other day i saw these big spring powered versions at ACE, 3 for a buck, so i bought em.
You do not want to actually have one of these things go off in your house, they shoot confetti and crap all over, as i found out.
but if you take the junk out, these little beauties make pretty fun little launchers, I have been shooting this little toy all over the house for my dog, and found i could get a rock 30 feet or so. so they are cool for that stuff. also, i was thinking about someone rigging one of these to shoot out of a barrel and then shoot out the confetti and stuff in mid-air

edit=> sorry i have no pictures, i can use our camera later tonight
they dont quite fit in a 1.5 inch barrel, or i would have done it already
oh yeah, to shoot them, there is a knob on the bottom that turns, not sure how you could turn it in mid air.
any ideas?

i've had one of these too. they are very dificult to reload because of the spring in em...

Could you combine it with the "Roto-Shot" idea to shoot them off?

I saw one of those poppers in walgreens yesterday, but didn't have the wisdom to buy it. Some nerfers actually have experimented with using them as mini spring-guns, with decent results (I think).

take it apart and find out what makes them fire when the knob is turned and see if you can do that any other way

Could you attach some kind of fins to the knob so it would turn in mid air... assuming the knob turns with out a great deal of force.

thats what i was thinking attach fins to the base of the cone so it turns one direction and fins to the knob so it turns the other, or u could use a spring with a string

Without wishing to be pedantic, doesn't this count as an 'explosive projectile'?

FMJ- unless I'm grossly misunderstanding how these party poppers work (mechanical, using a spring, not by igniting a propellant), I wouldn't call this an explosive projectile.

Any other mods who disagree, feel free to correct me.

If the poppers being referred to are similar to <a href="http://www.maplin.co.uk/images/Full/43991i0.jpg">these</a>, then they function as follows: pulling the string causes friction that ignites a tiny amount of propellant generating enough pressure to blow the confetti out of the popper's mouth.

The three units on the right have been removed from the poppers and contain the explosive. Then again, this topic seems to refer to the spring powered type so I must be completely out of line

I think if you want to launch confetti you're better off loading it into the barrel of a conventional pneumatic launcher.

anyone know what's in the center of the "firecracker" things without talking about using them as propellant or anything else that would break the rules?
I think it might be ammonium tri-iodide... amonia poured through iodine crystals, touch sets it off explosively. If anyone knows for sure, post briefly, i know how to google
