A bullet is not aerodynamically stable. If it's not spinning , it will tumble. If it hits point-on, it will be purely by chance.

drill a hole in the back, stuff in a 1' long peice of 3/8" dowel, then tape some crap (crap as in whatever is on hand, garbage bag strips tend to work very well) on the back to give it drag, simple simple simple.

What about drilling a hole in the back and screwing a long rag into it. Maybe that could act as a tail?
