how to make ice slugs....

1) take the pvc you used to make your barrel
2) cut it in to any where form 3"-4" lengths
3) saran wrap the bottom of the barrel and secure it tightly with a very tight rubber band...(i like to use glad pree n seal works like a charm...but if you do use it still rubber band it)
4) fill the pipe with water leave about 2" from the water level to the brim
5) (optional) repeat what you did to the bottom of the PVC to the top to avoid spilling if you cant get it to stand straight in the freezer
6) launch away!!!!

Complex, it will, but not noticably.

As to procedure... I prefer to take a cake pan (or similar), put .5" or so of water in the bottom, put a whole bunch of pipe peices in it, and freeze. This forms plugs just as good, if not better than gladwrap, without all the waste and hassle.

As to making them freeze faster, fill the pipe segments with ice cubes and water.

no not really....you only fill it so like you have about 2 inches left like if you had a PVC with the LENGTH of 4" then you would only fill it to 2" of water that way when it freezes and expands it goes up....(reply to c0mpl3x)

NP, the pipe will still expand outward no matter how low you fill it and no matter how many times you swear it it to not. It's just what happens. That's why I use ice cubes. They have already done their expanding.

w/e...like i've done it a few times all the ice does is expand up not left to write so your pipe dont break..iono if your talking bout the pipe expanding due to the cold but if you leave enought space for the ice to "grow" then it wont do any thing to your pipe
