i cant remember who originally came up with this idea but i have improved running a cloud off propane now i wont have to worry about spewing stinky propane into the air plus ill get a cool muzzle flash:)

Considering you haven't even made it yet, saying "perfecting" is pretty arrogant.

Anyways, I think it was Robbie who posted pics about using propane as a source. I've tried it as well, but frankly it made me too anxious to be worth it. The dual expansion chambers aren't needed; at most you'd need a single small one. I sure hope your barrel and cleanout are sealed perfectly... thats asking for the burn unit.

i also hope your propane meter and cleanout are sealed well everyone here is asking for the burn unit with your mentality
i planed on dual expansion chambers so i could make longer full auto bursts at a higher pressure

I'd hardly consider my common sense regarding safety as being overly conservative. My "mentality" is structured to prevent unnecessary risk, and if you had any idea how terrifying major burns can be I believe you'd understand my position.

If you cannot tolerate a little constructive criticism, I suggest you reevaluate your motivation for posting on this forum.

Mr.Plow,

What I fail to understand is:

1.) How he expects this thing to continue to burn, once the air in the cloud chamber is gone?

2.) How (in the [intercourse]) does he expect the propane to ignite in the first place, considering the fact that the chamber is so small and that there is a direct flow of propane going through it?

3.) Even "IF" the [intercourse]in' thing ignited, it would be against the rules... Because it would (in a sense) be considered a flamethrower?

How's THAT for mentality?

Note to Kenny_McComic:
Mr.Plow has more common sense AND a better mentality than 99% of the people active on these Forums, and the two of us have probably burned more things than you have ever even touched in your life.

im not expecting the propane to burn in the chamber i was planning on burning it as it came out the barrel as to prevent a trip to the burn unit and a missing backyard. the thing with the sparkplug is a pilot light hidden in a flash hider that clamps on the barrel not the cloud chamber itself and all combustion cannons have fire in them and im sure most of them have a muzzle flash so they to could be considered a flamethrower

Ok heres what I understand: There's a metal secondary chamber with holes in it right after the chamber. A propane line will feed into there and act as a pilot light while the bits of propane between the BBs will produce small "flashes" as they pass through.

Make sure everything is very heat-resistant.

I do understand completely. You're going for a home made sim-fire gun. I'm just making sure you don't turn into the human torch, and your attitude is not convincing me that my fears are unjustified. Burning at the muzzle, if you have a gas leak at the chamber-side you can bet it'll still eventually ignite.

If you can, try to find one of the electric grill ignitors, the ones that typically run off of AAA batteries or the like and spark every half-second or so. I predict you'll have difficulties keeping the muzzle fire going with only a slow-firing piezo ignitor. This would also work best ergonomically, as you can mount the ignition button on the left side of the foreward stock and press it just before squeezing the blowgun.

yes exactly use the piezo to light the pilot in the little fakey muzzle flash hider then when i pull the trigger propane coming out the barrel will be lit and keep my backyard from smelling like a sulfur mine

Well then, I'm the dumbass here for failing to see that the igniter/pilot was installed on the end of the barrel itself -and NOT on the inside of the chamber.

High pressure propane, coming out of a small orifice, will not produce a very long flame. It may look cool, but as Mr.Plow has already stated, it is not a very good idea to run full pressure propane through PVC pipe...

Any minute leak could result in you being engulfed in a huge fireball, as propane will expand to about 270 times its volume, once it hits the outside air.
