Has anybody every fiddled with a coil-on-plug (COP) ignition coil? Cars with COP coils have an ignition coil mounted on every spark plug. The coils are smaller than a standard ignition coil.

In sets of four, six or eight coils they run $15~$20 each (typical <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-FORD-MOTORCRAFT-COILS-DG486-DG500-SET-OF-6_W0QQitemZ160039578306QQcmdZViewItem">ebay listing</a>). I wonder if you could get a couple for cheap from an auto wrecker?
Might be able to make a much smaller ignition system using a COP coil and a photoflash circuit.
