Mini-Coaxial

This is my new barrel sealing coaxial. I made it to be able to take to my friends houses and not be seen with a cannon. Muhahahahaha. The Chamber is 1" SCH40 PVC and the Barrel is 1/2" SCH40 PVC. The total chamber length is an incredible 1 foot! The entire barrel length is an even more incredible 10 inches. The barrel is level with the bushing, which is why you cant see it. The piston is a dowl, with a piece of rubber glued on it. I spent a grand total of $5.79 on this baby. This thing was extremely time consuming, it took about 30 minutes. Let me know what you think.

How did you threaded that copper pipe?

Nice! I tried to make a mini coaxial out of 1" and 1/2" steel pipe but it absolutely sucked! I could throw marbles farther than it could shoot them, because the 1/2" wasn't in there straight.

The "copper pipe" is just a brass nipple, it came that way. Do you mean how did i thread it into the plug? Its really simple, I just drilled a hole and heated the nipple up with a blow tourch. It melts the plastic a little and forms around the threads on the nipple, so now i can unscrew it and have perfect threads in it. It works really well because it threads the plug and it is compleatly air tight. If you do it just be sure to hold the nipple with pliers for obvious reasons.

I was just wondering what kind of pipe that was, it looks like copper.

This cannon is fun, but the piston seals about 1 out of 4 times. Would it work better if it used a diaphram in place of the piston, or would it still not seal?

It's small enough that you could probably give it a good shake and it would seat. Also, you could try making a piston that is dowel, a piece of felt, and then the rubber. It helps make a stronger seal.
