yeah, i guess i got a little carried away. but did he do somthing to the pipe that let him make a square out of threaded pipe? I just cant see

Code: Select all

Quite nice work, but "Anti-elephant" & "Airsoft" do not belong in the same sentence, unless it is one like this one telling you that they don't go together.

I was thinking just the same thing, but hey, maybe if you got a buckshot of 1000 of them going about 5 km/s... But these things fired out of anything less than a LGG won't be taking out elephants.[/quote]

Something weird happened to my above post, I was trying to quote Rag, but it went all green and says it's code. Must be something to do with that threaded-elbow-square that bends the fabric of space-time around itself...

ROFL!!! BTW, this really doesn't look like an airsoft gun to me... It looks more like a 6mm spudgun. There is no way you could use this in a airsoft war with having to dig it out of the person's skin.

According to this article the Israelis are using 22LR bullets in a sabot fired by the 50 calibre M82 at an estimated mach 5. I doubt how true this is, however it makes you wonder, what sort of velocity you'd get from a 0.25 gram BB in that scenario... it would certainly take out an elephant at close range if hit in the right place.

Do how my mate managed to make the chamber all square concidering the thread only runs one way....well when he first did it, I was scatching my head but then he told me. He just screwed it in all way on one side, and then turned it half out, which turned it half in on the other side. He's a cluey bloke ol' Mick :D.

Oh and it's only called an elephant gun because well......it's a friggen long heavy gun :D

Um...... It sounds like It could be real but it sounds sorta like "The Jews are evil" propaganda.

And please delete your double post Mitchza89.

How accurate is it?

How does a suppressor make it accurate? I thought they made it quieter, not more accurate.

there are muzzle devices for air rifles called "air strippers" that look something like this:

Image

The idea is to "strip away" the muzzle blast of air in order not to destabilise the projectile as it leaves the muzzle. Technically, a silencer fulfills this function as it's dispersing the propelling gas before it leaves the muzzle.

The effect is noticeable on commercially made airguns, though how much of a difference it would make on a homemade BB gun is debatable.

I reckon alot of the accuraccy a homemade bb would have would depends alot on the weight of the projectile and well.....most people know that. I'd like to find out what a good weight for a 6 or 8mm bb is. It's hard to get a good combo of weight and speed, something heavy enough to have good penetration and stability in the air and good velocity. You generally can't have one or the other with homemade guns that have a budget. I'd rather weight over speed any day though. Example.... A basket ball is throw at you at 30 kilometers an hour. Pretty easy to catch.....But try catching a bowling ball going at 20 k's an hour....it's gonna leave a bruise.

A light projectile will give you good velocity but poor sectional density (assuming full calibre) so it will lose speed quickly through the air and start dropping exponentially the further it travels. A heavy projectile from the same launcher will travel slower to being with but tend to maintain that velocity for longer.

The ideal is low weight but high sectional density, like a nail in a sabot - you get good acceleration and it cuts easily through the air. The downside is that saboted and finned projectiles are difficult to fire accurately, especially if not properly machined.

I used to make alot of darts because I used to be a blowgun enthusiest. I used to make em out of nails, paper and super glue, if not...a bbq squre coated in superglue for strength. These darts used to be good but they were a bit time consuming to make, and if you hit something hard, they would compact and/or shatter.

I saw a spudder on here make a stabliser out of milk bottle plastic. He said he got the design from someone else. Anyone else know?

I had made a jig for making nail darts by cutting off the flat head then epoxying on 3 plywood fins that made it the same diameter as the barrel - similar to this russian BM-42 round:

The difference is that I made the fins wider so it didn't need the central support, so all I had to add to fire was a foam disk (which separated on firing) to seal the base. i used araldite to glue on the fins - and there you have it, APFSDS :D
