It was probably in the 70's it doesn't get that hot in WA, so mabe your right. All I know is that I was in the pool and mom asked what was burning in the back yard...

@DYI it is a lot easier if you have a thread cutter - you can cut the exact lenght of pipe that you need and thread it yourself... or even thread the whole pipe if you need it for some reason

imi going to try and fix my first design, for faster opening, hopefully by adding a larger handle, i can open it faster. Im definately going sprinkler next time, because its sooooooo much easier. thanks guys.

It depends on what type of thread you are using, but with regular NPT it would be tapered and therefore you couldn't thread the entire piece of pipe.

Wowowow . At first i thought it was just a piece of PVC piping until i saw the ball valve. Enlarge the airchamber :)
